You might not feel like it, but your brain would LOVE the rest. Make sure you TAKE THE ENTIRETY OF YOUR BREAKS. All tests were taken under test conditions. Also, I loathe C/P, but it went from my lowest score to one of my highest. I got sick on the day of this test, and their systems messed up which cost me 30 minutes on CARS.Īs you can see from my pre-AAMC FL scores, I kinda suck. It gave me this massive feel of pride and accomplishment as I saw the numbers piling up and really kept me from burning out.ĪAMC FL1(I'm an idiot and took this as a diagnostic, don't do this): 500ĪAMC OG: (out of 30 per section) 19/25/26/25Īctual: 516 (130/130/128/128). So I started using the Pomodoro technique(25 minutes of study, 5 minutes of break, 15 minutes of break after every 4 'sets') and logging it in a sheet. I kept a (admittedly kinda messy) Google doc tracking EVERYTHING, which I will link. You need to know why every answer is correct, the information that is attached to it, AS WELL AS why every other answer is wrong. REVIEWING YOUR ANSWERS is the single most important thing, I cannot stress it enough. This content knowledge brought me to maybe a 506 on my practice tests at the most, and then practicing took me the rest of the way. It gets better as you go, and you start feeling more confident when you're breezing through the cards. It was awful at the beginning, taking basically an entire day just to get through half the assigned cards. I then used /u/lolzcatz1337 Anki deck(search 521 anki), expanding it with anything I didn't know as I went. So at this point, I had a basic grasp of the content but was relatively unaware of the details. Where one class would take 3 hours, watching all the videos for said class took 1-2. This formed the foundation for my practice. However, the TPR class comes with these series of video lectures(separate from the live lectures) that break down each topic into the 'need to know' basics. When I kicked it into high-gear, I realized that the classes weren't all that helpful to me. I sometimes didn't do the reading, I definitely didn't do the practice problems, and I would just kinda sit there in class. I started "studying" in October or so with TPR's online live course. Here it is, everyone! This is what I did. It's about the hours you put in and your faith in yourself.Īsk me anything! I'll probably edit this post later to include my strategies, but it's damn late over here. This test isn't about inherent ability or intelligence. If I of all people can do it, then you can murder this test. As such, I gave myself 3 months to study for the 1/19 test and slacked off for half of it. I'm not the smartest guy, not by a long shot - and I'm the type to shoot myself in the foot with my procrastination habit. This subreddit gave so much to me, I thought it's only fair that I give a little back. /r/GAMSAT - Australian & UK Medical school Admission Test.P/S = Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior (Tentative) AAMC Sample FL Score ConversionĬ/P = Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological SystemsĬARS = Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skillsī/B = Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems # Correct -> Scaled Score Converter for AAMC Material These posts will be removed and the user banned without warning, subject to the discretion of the mod team Learn MoreĪll of the above rules are subject to moderator discretion High Yield MCAT Links You have signed an examinee agreement, and it will be enforced on this subreddit.ĭo not intentionally advertise paid or free products or services of any sort.
